The Role
The Senior Community Manager will primarily be focused on engaging with and helping to retain our existing audience through direct player engagement, community activities, community-focused comms, and influencer engagement. This person will be an important player advocate in internal discussions and will be the primary voice of the studio to our community.
This person will work closely with the rest of the marketing team to enable a cohesive communications strategy, including working with the Social Media Manager to deliver best practice socials content with our audience in mind, in line with the wider marketing plan. This person will also manage and support the current community manager.
This role sits within the marketing team and will report into the Head of Marketing. The marketing team at Steel City Interactive is made up of 6 internal staff and has the support of an external publishing adviser, and a PR manager.
We also work very closely with Undisputed’s publisher, PLAION, and various external agencies to deliver on our broader marketing efforts.
Working Hours and Locations
- This role is a 6-month Fixed Term Contract.
- It’s available remotely in the United States or hybrid in the United Kingdom with a minimum 2-days per week onsite at Sheffield HQ.
- The role will require a minimum of 2 days per week of working hours that coincide with US Eastern Time Zone working hours (2pm – 10pm BST / GMT)
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Head of Marketing to develop and execute comprehensive community strategies that align with production goals and enhance the overall marketing strategy.
- Manage and support the current Community Manager.
- Design and manage our primary community spaces, such as Discord and Steam forums, with the goal of maintaining a welcoming and positive environment that benefits the growth of the community and the studio.
- Directly engage with the audience in community spaces and on social media channels. Encourage a positive environment, gather feedback, and share insights into ongoing game development where appropriate.
- Always have a finger on the pulse of the community and be able to convey the player sentiment and feedback to partners, internal teams, and studio leadership.
- Collaborate with the wider publishing team to deliver regular sentiment reports that will shape development decision making.
- Be a leading voice of the studio to our players; help craft community focused comms on our social media channels. This includes things like development roundtables, patch notes, and content designed to celebrate our community.
- Work with a variety of external partners to deliver on community goals. Fighters, boxing organisations, content partners, etc.
- Work with content creators including streamers, YouTubers, and community organisers. Ensure they feel heard, find ways for us to support them, and maintain positive and collaborative relationships.
- Represent the brand and organise community-focused events like studio visits, conventions, boxing events, and more to foster a strong relationship between the studio and our communities.
- Travel to occasional events.
- Occasional unsociable hours in line with events, major game updates, and community activity.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- 5+ years’ experience in communications, customer service, or community, with at least 2 years specifically in a community management role within games.
- Experience leading on the creation and execution of community management strategies and programs with demonstrable success in line with a wider marketing strategy.
- Extensive knowledge of social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter/X, Facebook, TikTok, Discord, YouTube, etc.).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience navigating difficult situations/news.
- Experience tracking and analysing data to optimise community and social media strategies.
- • Proven track record of working with various stakeholders to filter and implement player feedback.
- Proven capability to manage a global community, ensuring you stay in tune with current events and can manage cross-cultural dynamics.
- Experience working with project management tools such as Jira or Trello.
- Ability to work independently, self-managing time and priorities while ensuring work is delivered on time.
Desirable
- An interest and familiarity with boxing/boxing games.
- Being comfortable on camera.
