The Role
We have an exciting new role to offer an individual with a passion for technology and looking to take the next step in developing their knowledge and strengths in the IT industry.
We’re seeking a dynamic, proactive and technically skilled IT Administrator to join our growing game development studio supporting our Head Office in Sheffield and our Leamington Satellite site.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated to learn new skills and systems, own parts of the infrastructure and have a drive to develop within the existing team. In return the company will offer the opportunity to expand IT knowledge and experience, introduce the candidate to modern infrastructure and methodology to aid their development.
In this hands-on role, you’ll support the core technology that powers day-to-day studio operations — including servers, networks, and workstations.
This role is a great opportunity for someone with practical IT support/administration experience who enjoys solving complex problems, supporting creative teams, and working in a fast-moving studio environment, who is looking for a role with scope for progression in an exciting industry.
Responsibilities
Studio Infrastructure & Systems Support
Be the focal point for day-to-day IT support across the studio, handling technical issues efficiently.
Administer and maintain core infrastructure, including but not limited to, Active Directory and Microsoft 365 environments.
Support and maintain workstation hardware and software for artists, designers, engineers, and production teams.
Highlight trends and propose solutions to the wider IT team for continual improvement initiatives
Desire to improve own skillset and knowledge to support new systems
Networking & Storage
Support studio networking infrastructure, including switches, VLANs, Wi-Fi, VPNs, and firewalls.
Maintain and monitor storage solutions (NAS/SAN).
Security & Compliance
Assist in managing endpoint security, MFA policies, and email security tools.
Ensure systems follow cybersecurity best practices and relevant certification standards (e.g. Cyber Essentials).
Operations & Maintenance
Lead and own IT documentation, asset inventory, and configuration records.
Support backup and disaster recovery processes, including regular testing.
Participate in infrastructure upgrades, improvements, and rollout projects.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Experience in an IT Administrator, IT Support, or Infrastructure Support role.
Knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and Microsoft 365.
Good working understanding of networking fundamentals — VLANs, switching, routing, VPNs, firewalls.
Solid troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose complex system and user issues.
Clear communication skills — able to work closely with technical and non-technical teams.
Strong organisational habits, documentation discipline, ability to multitask, and a proactive mindset.
Ability to manage high priority issues calmly, whilst managing workload expectations.
Desire to learn on the job with support from the existing team, to grow within the role.
Must have a full driving licence due to requirement for supporting Sheffield and Leamington offices
Desirable
Experience working in a game development studio or other creative technical environment.
Familiarity with Helix Core (Perforce) and Unreal Engine
Experience with Azure AD, Intune, or hybrid identity environments.
Basic Linux administration experience.
Experience supporting storage systems (NAS/SAN) and backup solutions.
Knowledge of Zero Trust principles and modern security practices.
Relevant certifications (Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco) are a plus.

About Steel City Interactive Ltd
Sheffield-based Steel City Interactive (SCI) was founded in 2020 by three brothers, Ash, Asif and Asad Habib. Formed around the idea of creating the first major, new boxing game in over a decade. The rapidly growing studio now employs 70 people and has partnerships with the world of boxing’s leading companies including the WBC, Ring Magazine, CompuBox, BoxRec, many other prestigious boxing organisations and many of the biggest fighters. During development SCI has created innovative, proprietary technology to bring the world of boxing to life like never before.
Our roots are in Sheffield, a city buzzing with music, food, sport, cultural diversity and the glorious Peak District National Park on our doorstep.
